Düzce

Tucked between the forested mountains of the Western Black Sea coast and the great motorway connecting Istanbul to Ankara, Düzce is a city of lush green landscapes, rushing rivers, and cascading waterfalls that rewards those who pause to explore it. Though one of Türkiye's newer provinces, its history runs deep — from Roman and Byzantine ruins at Konuralp to the medieval Genoese castle that guards the coast at Akçakoca. Düzce's greatest treasures, however, are natural: the thundering waterfalls of Güzeldere and Samandere, the tranquil highland meadows of Topuk Yayla, the birdlife-rich shores of Efteni Lake, and the exhilarating white-water rapids of the Melen River. For anyone seeking a green and unhurried escape within easy reach of the great cities, Düzce is a destination of genuine and refreshing beauty.
